Recycling

Recycling is when you convert waste into into reusable material and that reduces the need to use new materials. Most people know it for the three " R's", reduse, reuse, and recycle. Did you know if one city recycled evrything they would be able to power four cities of energy and they would have a forest. People who recycle are saving more energy and money than most. It also requires a multi-step process to get "new" resources. In 2009, the United States made enought trash to circle the earth 24 times and were not even the largest population.
Some beneficial recycling ways are:

• recycling can help the environment
• A single glass bottle can run a 100 watt light for 4 hours
• Each ton of recycled paper can save 4,000 kilowatts enough to power L.A
• over 75% of waste is recyclable but we only recycle about 30% of it
• we throw away about 25,000,000 plastic bottles every hour!

In some places if you recycle bottles you can sell them for money, here in redondo beach theres a little unit where you sell bottles. the amount of money you get depends on the weight. you have to seperate the types of bottles and cans you bring.they weight the bins that you put on the scale and determine the amount of money you get.
