Recycling
There are many different ways you can protect the environment, recycling is one of them. Recycling can be good and bad if you look at it a certain way. One way recycling is good is it protects the environment. One way recycling is bad is even though something has the recycle symbol on it doesn’t mean you always recycle it, especially plastic. If no one recycled then the world would go in great danger and homes or habitats would be toxic and be destroyed. Recycling is very important even though the negative effects are very bad.

The positive effects of recycling are very good considering what the earth’s condition is present day. When you recycle paper or anything made from trees you could save many forest or trees. You can even recycle batteries, just take the old batteries to a hazardous waste recycling center. The people at the center will take the hazardous wastes and you can go. This doesn’t mean you have to recycle everything but it would help a lot. Also, if you recycle at recycling centers you get paid depending on what cost more at the time. Plus, if you buy a recycled product it costs less and you will have more money for a rainy day.
Recycling doesn’t just help the environment, it helps living creatures too. As you already know recycling reduces pollution, and recycling plastic will help also, just not all plastic can be recycled. Recycling is so good for everyone and everything landfills could go down drastically. You know recycling is not all good, recycling also has negative effects. Some effects of recycling that are not so good are every year nearly 900,000,000 trees are cut to provide materials for paper. Most Americans throw away 28 billion bottles and jars each year. Remember when you saw yourself as a cute little baby wearing those cute little disposable diapers, well did you not know that the diapers you wore lasts centuries in landfills and a average baby will go through 8,000 of them. Even though recycling seems all good doesn’t mean it is.

When you hear the word recycling what do you think? Do you think of the world being healthier? That is not the only thing you should think, you should also think leachate, costs, and what is the positive and negative effects. The negative effects of recycling are, one, an abandoned dump causes a lot of damage to the environment around it. Two, if rain water mixes with the chemicals from all the trash that can be recycled it creates leachate and the leachate will infect the groundwater we drink. Three, it take a fifteen year old tree just to make 700 bags for a grocery store. Another, most experts say that the UK has so many landfills by 2018 they will run out of space to put their trash and most of it probably can be recycled.

In conclusion, if you recycle little things like glass bottles or metal cans it can make a big difference, just be careful with plastic. One main positive effect recycling has is it reduces pollution, conserves resources, reduces landfills, lowers carbon dioxide levels, and saves energy. One main negative effect recycling has is that even though something has the recycle sign on it doesn’t mean you can recycle it and it better off as trash. Next time you finish something in like a metal can then recycle it and you can make the world a better place. There are many ways to protect the planet. Recycling is one of the ways you can do that. This was my essay on recycling.
