Geothermal energy is heat from earths outer core. Geothermal means(in Latin) "Heat of the earth", Geo meaning "Of the earth" and thermal meaning heat. Earths magma is only ten feet in some places and can reach up to 4,204 degrees Celsius.

There are many advantages to geothermal energy, one is that there is a lot of geothermal energy deep in the Earth. The U.S. government offers tax advantages to people who use geothermal energy in their homes. producing geothermal electricity doesn't produce carbon dioxide. Geothermal energy power plants can be built underground. No fuel is required, so no mining and transportation.

Geothermal energy can also be expensive, it can be pricey to build a geothermal energy power plant, drilling into heated rock is hard work. How geothermal works is that it would get heated by magma in the ground.
