What is coal? Is it DANGEROUS or is it SAFE? In our statement were trying to tell you that coal has its Pros and Cons. How is coal better than other fossil fuels and how is coal created (or where it comes from)?
Coal is a black- brownish sedimentary rock composed with mostly carbon and hydrocarbon. Coal is created by dead remains of sea animals and coal takes millions of years to be created. The energy in coal comes from the energy stored by plants that lived hundred of million of years ago.
For millions of years, a layer of dead plants at the bottom of the swamps was covered by layers of water and dirt, trapping the energy of the dead plants. The heat and pressure from the top layers helped the plant remains turn into what we today call coal.
The cons of coal are that it is a nonrenewable energy source because it takes millions of year to be created and another con is coal results to more air pollution than any other fossil fuels. the pros for coal is it generates 40% of the world's electricity and also a pro about coal is 23% of fuel used in the USA.
Is coal dangerous or safe to mine, mining for coal is dangerous because thousands of miners have been kill for injuries in the mines. They also die by lung diseases. I head on the news that miners die from an explosion. But now there's new equipment to make coal mining safer.
So in conclusion coal is a good thing and a bad thing because people died from mining and now trying to it safer. But coal generates lots of electricity for the USA .
